We have been around since 2005, and have upheld an amazing reputation in customer satisfaction. You can always count on speedy shipping and great customer service.  When you call us, you will always talk to an owner of the company. One of the hardest decisions when picking a new car is choosing the right color but the day when cars will be available in multiple colors could be here sooner than you think. Scientists have developed a new coating called ‘paramagnetic’ paint that has the ability to change colors at the touch of a button. One carmaker looking into the technology is Nissan, which has already developed a self-healing paint. Before the vehicle is painted, a special polymer containing the special ‘paramagnetic’ iron oxide particles is applied to the car’s body. An applied electric current then adjusts the spacing of small crystals within the iron oxide particles and therefore affects their ability to reflect light and change color. The process is perfect for metal objects like cars because a continuous small current is needed to maintain the desired color. When the vehicle is switched off, the car returns to a default color of white. The coating has the ability to reproduce any color visible to the human eye and it takes less than a second to change the entire car. The first commercial applications could be on the market as early as 2010.

Now, I usually only make a little bit at a time unless I am doing a big project, so I am doing a small amount because I only need a bit of paint for my upcoming projects. (stay tuned!)The more paint you use, the more pigment. This isn’t an exact art, but I use the same amount of pigment for 1 part acrylic paint as I do for 2 parts acrylic gloss medium, so if you’re making transparent paint you will use more paint and less pigment.I didn’t measure, but an estimation was that I used 1 tablespoon of paint for the 2-color (yellow) and 2 tablespoons for the color-to-transparent paint.

Once the color changing paint layers are applied you apply your own clear top coat. As you know: car clear coat protects against weathering, ultraviolet rays and everyday wear. Besides that, LitCoat color changing paints are UV resistant. Electroluminescent paint developments are rapidly integrating within new revenue generating projects. We think that one single layer tuning paint structure is providing already the most exclusive awesomeness possible, wouldn’t you agree?

Like I said earlier, repainting a car or truck is an expensive endeavor regardless of the specifics. But adding a color change can almost double the cost of some paint jobs! No kidding. Why does it cost so much more to change the color of a vehicle than repaint it in the same color? When you repaint a car the same color, you can usually just paint the parts of the vehicle that are regularly exposed to weather. You paint the top, sides, front and back. But the hidden bits, the parts that don't get baked in the sun and pounded by rain, usually still look fine. These are things like the door jambs (the surface of the door openings that carry the latches), inside the trunk, inside the engine compartment — literally all over the place.

In order to completely change the color of a vehicle, and to do it right, the paint shop performing the work will have to take everything out of the vehicle. For an extensive new car paint color, the engine will need to be removed as well as almost everything else. The seats, dash, console and even many pieces of trim may have to be removed so that the vehicle can be completely painted. This is one of the reasons why a better shop will charge more for painting a car with a new color. Cheaper shops usually omit this very important step and just paint what you can see on the outside.
