Peg Perego Convertible Car Seat

By Young Chicago, IL Works for us 🙂 February 22, 2017 Our baby’s head size is in the 90th percentile. Considered either Chicco or Maxi Cosi but they both seemed either too deep or tight. Baby looks comfortable in Peg Perego so we decided to keep this one. ProsThe head rest area is not too deep like Chicco and not too narrow or tight like Maxi Cosi. Baby seats higher in Peg Perego so he gets better window view. ConsExpensive. Peg Perego cup holder’s quality doesn’t match to the car seat.

The Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Convertible seat is almost as impressive as its brother the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 infant style seat. It is a nice seat that scored well for quality, comfort, and ease of use and it installs easily using LATCH or the vehicle belt. This Peg has a nice design with storage for components and a smooth looking fit and finish. In short, we do like this seat, but it failed to meet the high scores found in several other products we looked at and paled in comparison to any of the Britax models or the Clek Foonf.

Grace September 14, 2015 Hi Heather, I have a son who just turned 1 and suddenly just over 1 inch from the top of his UPPAbaby Mesa, so I need to buy a RF convertible carseat ASAP. I thought I had more time! He’s always been long and lean (currently 30 inches and 19 pounds). I drive a Nissan Sentra at the moment, but will have a much larger Toyota Highlander in about 6 weeks. Before I knew the family member from whom I am buying the Highlander was ready to sell, I was settled on Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Convertible because I felt it was the most promising in terms of giving the front passenger comfortable leg room and ease of moving. If my husband drives my car, we currently need to move the carseat behind the passenger seat. I know this will only be an issue for a few more weeks, but it’s a big one (we’ll need to move the carseat in my car several times between grandparents’ cars when my husband and I are out of town at the end of the month). With a bigger car in my future, I was starting to think a Clek might be the way to go. We would love to have more children and I’m thinking ahead to the ability to fit three across. The extended RF of the Cleks also appeal to me. The Peg Perego seems to suit my current needs better in terms of size and ease of moving, but it will only be 6 weeks until I have a bigger car. What would you advise? Thanks! Reply

Connie February 16, 2016 I’m having trouble deciding between this Peg and the Chicco Nextfit Zip. Currently, we have the Peg Primo Viaggio 3-35 infant car seat and we really like it. The Peg 5-70 seems to have a lot of the same features. But you seem to hear more about the safety ratings of the Chicco. We’ve seen both seats and my husband is sold on the Peg for its style. My son is very tall and so the Chicco is better from that standpoint. And it looks like the side impact is better on the Chicco since you have to lift the child up more to get him into the seat vs Peg. But my husband likes that the Peg is sleeker and you don’t have to lift him up as much. He doesn’t care that the Chicco has more recline positions than the Peg. He doesn’t think they’ll be necessary with our tall 13mo who is always wanting to look out the window anyway. I just want the safest option. Reply

Peg Perego breaks into the convertible carseat market with the new Primo Viaggio Convertible. It’s been a long time in coming, but I think you’ll be happy with the results. Fine fabrics, thick harness webbing, and deluxe LATCH straps are what we’ve come to expect from Peg Perego and this carseat doesn’t disappoint. The Primo Viaggio rear-faces from 5-45 lbs., then converts to a forward-facing convertible for 22-65 lbs. and less than 49”.

The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends parents keep their children rear facing until they reach their second birthday, or they reach the maximum height or weight for their seat. The Convertible allows a child to sit rear facing up to 45 lbs., as long as the child’s head is at least 1″ below the headrest edge. (Please note: Only the lower seven positions can be used in rear-facing mode.) Reversible Can be used rear facing for children 5 to 45 lbs. and forward facing for children 22 to 65 lbs. SIP Side Impact Protection protects child’s head, neck and spine. Easily adjusts to 10 different positions, even with child in the seat, ensuring the best and safest fit EPS Energy-absorbing foam, Expanded Poly Styrene, in shell and head panel protects child’s head and torso from impact forces. SAFE A Shock Absorbing Foam Element device located below the shell crumples upon impact, reducing stress on child’s neck and shoulders in the event of a crash Contoured Steel Back Plate Minimizes flexing and reduces forward movement. Quick-Release, Five-Point Safety Harness Made with a “cobblestone” webbing of extra-strong polyester thread; equipped with shoulder pads and chest clip. Contoured Base Provides extra stability in any seating position. Top Tether Hook Increases stability in forward-facing mode and limits forward movement. LATCH Adjustable LATCH connectors add stability and are easy to reposition for rear-facing and forward-facing installation. Fresco Jersey Performance Fabric Superior quality Fresco Jersey fabric found in head panel and removable cushion is easy to clean, breathable and absorbs moisture – keeping child cool and comfortable. Peg Perego Convertible Car Seat

By Heidi North Ogden, Utah Very appealing luxury car seat March 25, 2016 Just got our Peg Perego convertible car seats in Paloma today and they are so nice! Love the look and the quality of this car seat. It was really easy to figure out and to install them using the latch system in our car. It is so comfortable, and fits my twin one year olds perfectly rear facing. They looked so relaxed and comfortable in them. So glad we paid extra to get the leather, it adds such character and matches our car great. Really love this car seat already.

Overall the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Convertible is a winner. The carseat is solidly made with quality materials, has the requisite EPS foam, and is comfortable. Easy installation with LATCH and its relatively light weight will make the Peg convertible excel as a travel seat. It is on the expensive side, but I predict that parents who buy it will be happy with their purchase, as will their child.
